About the new Dyson Supersonic

The Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer hasn’t changed. But, after rigorously testing different hair types in our laboratories, it now comes with new attachments designed to style different types of hair. And because we’re constantly evolving our machines, we’ve re-engineered the Diffuser and Styling concentrator.

How is the new Styling concentrator different from the old one

We’ve re-engineered the Styling concentrator to be wider and thinner. It now spans the width of a typical brush or section of hair, for more efficient styling. And is thinner to create an even more precise airflow, allowing you to style one section at a time without disturbing the rest.

How is the new Diffuser different from the old one

Even though our owners liked our old Diffuser, some women with longer, thicker hair felt their hair needed more space. To address this we’ve lengthened the prongs to style more hair at once, with greater control. Air can now penetrate deeper into the hair. We’ve also added a new double-woven mesh layer inside the Diffuser to improve airflow. This creates a more even, less disrupted, airflow to reduce frizz.

What does the Gentle air attachment do

The Gentle air attachment provides a softer, more diffused airflow while still allowing fast drying. It does this by maintaining the same amount of energy as the hair dryer without an attachment through diffusing the air over a larger area. This reduces the focus, impact and heat on the scalp making it feel more comfortable. This allows users to have the benefit of using the product in the high flow and high heat settings.

Taking inspiration from the engineering behind a jet engine, chevrons have been added to help create controlled air mixing and reduce sound power from the machine.

What does the Wide-tooth comb attachment do

Engineered for curly and textured hair, the new Wide-tooth comb attachment has robust teeth to help lengthen hair as it dries, or create volume and shape.
