Today, Dyson unveiled six new products that bring together automation, advanced software and intelligence with best-ever cleaning performance. From St. James Power Station, Singapore, Chief Technology Officer, John Churchill unveiled the new technologies whilst giving a glimpse into Dyson’s vision of the future of clean homes, borne of decades of expertise in filtration, airflow, motors, software and robotics.

Our engineers have, and continue, to employ these technologies to reduce the cognitive burden on our owners, saving time, energy and effort in maintaining a healthy home – a true set-and-forget mindset. In the last year, there has been a significant reduction in the number of people maintaining regular cleaning schedules, yet we still spend 25 minutes a week, the equivalent of 65 hours per year, vacuuming our homes. Sensing, software and automation sit at the heart of these new machines. By understanding surroundings and the task at hand, a product, whether a vacuum or purifier, can automatically respond to tackle the challenge most effectively. This starts with intelligent, accurate sensors and relies heavily on embedded software, electronics and automation, as well as core mechanical technologies like motors, filtration and pick-up to tackle the task at hand, properly.
Enhanced sensors and software elevate the performance enabling a different, more efficient way of cleaning.
The Dyson 360 Vis NavTM robot vacuum has sensors that detect the edges of a room, and redirect suction through a side-actuator – solving one of the biggest challenges for any robot: precision edge cleaning. Its high-level processor thinks and adapts, capable of pinpointing its position to within 71mm.
Dyson cordless vacuum technology uses acoustic piezo sensors to count and categorize dust particles, informing owners via LCD screen when to move on, or continue cleaning. These readings also determine the suction power required for the task, automatically adjusting power levels.
Dyson has been developing its own motor technology since 2004, investing more than £350m ($600m) to date into research, laboratories, specialist teams and manufacturing capabilities.
Dyson’s fifth generation Hyperdymium™ motor is smaller, faster and more powerful than its predecessors, spinning at up at 135,000rpm – nine times faster than a Formula One engine. Powering the Dyson Gen5detectTM cordless vacuum, the fifth generation Dyson HyperdymiumTM motor drives powerful suction for high-quality cleaning performance, delivering 262 air watts of suction3.
Separating particles from airflow or filtration, has been at the center of Dyson products for 30 years. During that time, Dyson has invested in laboratories and test rigs that measure filtration efficacy not only of the filter as industry standards stipulate, but also at full-machine level, developing entirely new test methods in both floorcare and air purification. Dyson vacuums offer five stages of fully sealed filtration, from cyclonic separation in the vacuum bin, to the cyclone pack, filtration mesh and pre- and post-motor filters to effectively separate different sizes of debris. In Dyson Purifiers, three filters combine for highly effective indoor purification, trapping particles as small as 0.1 microns4 in a glass HEPA media, capturing gas pollutants and absorbing NO25 , and continuously destroying formaldehyde6 at a molecular level.
HEPA H13 refers to a standard of filter made from HEPA media. Full-machine HEPA H13 filtration7 means that what goes in, stays in; it refers to the performance of the whole product – no leaky airflow pathways, no gaps allowing in dirty air - purified air exits the machine. The Dyson 360 Vis Nav robotic vacuum8, Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde purifier and Dyson HEPA Big+Quiet purifier are all tested to whole-machine HEPA H13 standard. The Dyson Gen5detect cordless vacuum are also proven to capture viruses9.
The Dyson 360 Vis NavTM robotic vacuum marks Dyson’s next step in intelligent robotic vacuum cleaners: the most powerful robot vacuum with twice the suction power of any other10. Engineered with unique Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav™ has a 360-degree, vision system with fish-eye hemispheric lens which remembers where it has been, sees where to clean and is intelligent enough to create dust maps of your home. The high-level processor collects data from 26 sensors for a range of tasks, including dust detection, obstacle avoidance and wall detection, to clean right to the edge.
It features a new, full-width triple-action brush bar: for hard floors, soft ‘Fluffy’ nylon for large debris pick-up and anti-static carbon fiber filaments to remove fine dust, and stiff nylon bristles to dig into carpets. Dual link suspension allows the machine to climb up to 21mm, and its low profile lets it clean under furniture up to 99mm. After its 50 minutes of run-time11 , the machine will automatically return to its dock to recharge. The MyDyson app provides deep cleaning reports after each clean.

The Dyson Gen5detect™ and Dyson Gen5outsize™ cordless vacuum, feature fifth generation Hyperdymium™ motor technology, delivering unrivalled suction power, capable of capturing viruses from your home.
The machine features a fully sealed, whole-machine HEPA filtration system, engineered to capture 99.99% of particles down to 0.1 microns18. 14 cyclones also remove dust from the airflow so there’s no loss of suction19, ensuring optimal performance with every clean.
A new Fluffy Optic™ cleaner head with increased brightness and range reveals twice20 the amount of microscopic dust, so you can see exactly where to clean. The fade-free, energy dense battery offers up to 70 minutes run-time.
The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde purfier is designed specifically for large, open-plan spaces, with the Dyson HEPA Big+Quiet Formaldehyde purifier engineered specifically for simplicity in shared, commercial spaces. New Cone Aerodynamics delivers 32 feet of projection12 and new CO2 sensor13 indicates when to ventilate. Alongside its powerful projection, the Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde is engineered to operate quietly, producing just 56 decibels of noise - making it our quietest yet most powerful purifier.
The HEPA H13 particle filter traps up to 99.97% of pollutants as small as 0.3 microns, whilst the new K-Carbon filter removes gas pollutants14 and 3x more NO215. The lifetime Selective Catalytic Oxidation filter destroys formaldehyde permanently16. Sensors constantly monitor the indoor air quality, sending live data to the MyDysonTM app17.
The Dyson Submarine™ wet roller head, available with the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine, delivers just the right amount of water to effectively remove spills, stains and small debris from hard floors. To achieve an optimum ‘clean floor’ finish without over saturating, the wet roller head has been engineered with an eight-point hydration system, using a pressurised chamber for even water distribution across the full width of the roller.
The motor-driven microfiber roller removes spills, tough stains and small debris, covering flooring up to 110m2, thanks to a 300ml clean water tank. A durable plate extracts contaminated water from the wet roller and deposits it into a separate waste-water tank to ensure no dirt and debris is transferred back onto the floor. Designed with a low profile and full-width brush bar, the Dyson Submarine™ wet roller head allows for effortless maneauvring underneath furniture, cleaning dust, debris and spills from even the most awkward places.
