Have you successfully set up the app?

To begin, please switch on your purifier . Your machine will require power throughout the connection process. We recommend you stay in close proximity to your purifier throughout the process.

Make sure you have your home Wi-Fi network password to hand, as you will need this later.

Ensure Wi-Fi is also turned on and connected on your mobile device, that you are connected to your home network and not a public network or another Dyson product's network.

If you are connected to a different Wi-Fi network, please choose the settings option on your device to change to your home network, then return to the Dyson Link app.

Turn your device's Bluetooth on. This can be done by swiping down on your home screen and tapping the Bluetooth icon, or going into your settings and activating Bluetooth.

Slow response

If your app is taking a while to respond, please retry when prompted several times.

Ensure you have a constant and stable Wi-Fi connection, you remain in proximity to your router and purifier, and the power supply to both remains stable.

Retry the connection journey

If you are still having issues completing the set up, please retry the connection journey again from the begining (to do this, press 'No' when asked if you want to retry, and then confirm you want to exit the journey. You will then be taken back to the home screen).

Important:

If you begin the connection journey again, you will need to perform a factory reset. To do this, hold down both power buttons (on the main body, above the screen, and on the remote control), for 10 seconds. The display will count down and confirm once your purifier is reset.

Home network Wi-Fi password

A common issue is incorrect entry of the home Wi-Fi password. To ensure it is correct, go into your device's setting's, 'forget' your Wi-Fi, and then sign back in using the password you have to hand. This ensures it is the most up to date version and all the characters are being entered correctly.

When entering your network password, press the 'Show password' option to ensure the characters being entered are a match. Certain characters can look similar, so take care that 'O', '0', 'I', and '1' are not mixed up.

WEP

Check that your Wi-Fi connection is not set to WEP, as Dyson products will not connect to a WEP configured network. This information can be found in your router settings, or by contacting your network provider. Please change this setting before proceeding with the connection journey. Dyson Machines only connect to WPA or WPA2 networks, most modern routers will have these settings. We recommend WPA2 as it is the most secure encryption.

Connection problems

If you are struggling to connect your purifier and the Dyson Link app, please work through the below checks before preceeding.

Wi-Fi

The Wi-Fi network you are connecting your purifier to is your home Wi-Fi network, not a public network or belonging to another Dyson product. If you are not sure, go into your device's settings and select the Wi-Fi option.
A common issue is incorrect entry of the home Wi-Fi password. To ensure it is correct, go into your device's setting's, 'forget' your Wi-Fi, and then sign back in using the password you have to hand. This ensures it is the most up to date version and all the characters are being entered correctly.

This information can be found in your router settings, or by contacting your network provider. Please change this setting before proceeding with the connection journey. Dyson Machines only connect to WPA or WPA2 networks, most modern routers will have these settings. We recommend WPA2 as it is the most secure encryption.

Please select the 'Connecting your purifier to the app' option if your purifier has not yet been set up on your home Wi-Fi network.

Please select the 'How to add a second user to your fan' route if your purifier is already connected to your home Wi-Fi.

Bluetooth issues

If you are having issues at the Bluetooth stage of the connection process, this may be due to the strength of the Bluetooth signal your device is emitting.

Please remove any covers, cases, holders, or cards from your device before begining the connection process. This means there is nothing blocking the Bluetooth signal from your device.

Bluetooth must be turned on at all times for the connection process to work. To check Bluetooth is turned on, either swipe down from the top of your devices screen and press the Bluetooth icon, or from the main menu, go into 'settings', then select Bluetooth and turn it to on.

Proximity to machine

When holding your device next to your purifer to securely pair, touch your phone directly to the left of the information screen and hold it in place for a few seconds.

Manual connection code

If you are unable to pair by holding your device, you can enter a code manually to identify your machine instead. This eight digit numerical code will be underneath the removable filters, and on your user guide.

If you are having issues whilst completing the connection journey for a first or second user, please select 'Struggling to connect'. If you are seeing a grey house in the lobby of your app once you have connected, please select 'In the lobby'.

At what point are you having problems with the connection?

Router proximity

Check that your router is close enough to your purifier and the signal is strong enough. You can do this by standing next to your purifier and checking the signal strength on your device. If it isn't strong, move your router and purifier closer together.

Moving your router to a high place, such as a shelf or the landing can help. If you live in an older building or somewhere with thick walls, you may need to place your router and purifier in very close proximity.

Powercycle

If positioning your router and purifier closer together has not helped, you can try powercycling your purifier.
Turn your purifier off at the wall and leave for 10 minutes, then turn it back on.

Has your connection improved?

This is due to another user connecting to your machine and taking ownership of your purifier.

When adding a second user, at the end of the connection journey you will be asked if you are the purifiers new owner. Please select 'No, I'm just using it'. You will be able to easily control, schedule, and monitor your purifer but without affecting the registered user.

To override this if you are the registered first user and you have been disconnected, you will need to complete the connection jouney again. When you are asked 'Are you the machine's new owner?', please select 'Yes, I own this machine'.

Check with the other users in your house or building that know of the home Wi-Fi password your purifier is set up with, and interact with your purifier, to ensure there is not a misunderstanding about usability or ownership.

If you are unsure of ownership and users, you can perform a factory reset as a last resort. Please be aware this will wipe all the settings and users from your purifier.

Dyson fan heaters and hot and cool purifiers have a positive safety feature where the machine deliberately switches off after 9 hours of continuous heating. This would also occur if the machine is set to auto and providing heat constantly for 9 hours. NB: This feature cannot be switched off.

When your purifier switches from front to rear airflow there may be a clicking sound as the motor adjusts direction.

This is a normal sound for the purifier to make and is not an indicator of anything wrong with your machine.

Is the clicking noise only occurring when the machine is oscillating?

Check base

Check around the base of the machine for any debris or obstructions.

Please try taking the filters off, then reattaching them to ensure they are correctly clicked into place. When attaching the filters, press in and up, and check there are no gaps or loose areas.

If the filters are not attached correctly, a triangle warning may show on your screen. If this happens, please reattach the filters securely.

Continuous monitoring

The continuous monitoring option is used for air quality, temperature and humidity data to be relayed to the machine and app at all times, even when you have turned the purifier off. The sensors have small fans that maintain airflow for continuous monitoring, but this should not cause any audible noise interference.

There may be instances when the display shows green, indicating high air quality, but the fan speed is still high. This is due to the machine constantly seeking to maintain a good air quality, and in scenarios such as rooms with leaky windows, the machine must work harder to maintain a good air quality.

This will only happen when the machine is set on auto. To turn off Auto mode, please select Manual mode, either using the remote control or on the app.

Please check the following on the app:

Swipe up to reveal the setting tab and tap to open options.

Swipe down to find the continuous monitoring option and tap to open.

Turn OFF the 'Collect data when in standby' option. (The icon will turn grey when turned off). Save the change by pressing 'Done' at the top right of the page.

Continuous monitoring can now also be turned on/off by pressing the 'Auto' button on the remote control for five seconds.

Retest the machine.

Has the noise stopped?

Restart the machine

Unplug the machine and leave it for 10 seconds.

Ensure the power cord is plugged into the centre of the base.

Plug the machine back in and retest.

Has the noise stopped?

Unplug the appliance from the mains electricity supply.

Slide the buttons down on either side of the shrouds.

The shrouds will release with the glass HEPA filters attached.

Plug the machine back in and retest.

Has removing the filters stopped the noise?

Please ensure you have the most up to date software downloaded before beginning any checks. We strongly recommended enabling auto-updates in your Dyson Link app settings, to allow the most up to date software to be installed as soon as it is available.

The colour of the numbers and readings on the display are linked to the air quality of the respective category.

Green denotes a high air quality, with low pollutants, and red, low air quality with a high amount of pollutants.

Different categories can have different levels of pollutants at the same time, and will therefore display in different colours.

Has this resolved the problem?

The interface is designed to stay on the screen you select. Please ensure the remote is not being accidentally pressed.

Has this resolved the problem?

There may be times when the display is showing green but the fan speed is still high.

This is due to the machine always trying to maintain high air quality. For example, in a room with leaky windows, the machine has to work harder via a higher Fan speed to maintain a high air quality.

If you want the fan to be quieter, you can choose to change the airflow direction to face backwards, or turn the machine to manual mode and lower the airspeed.

Has this resolved the problem?

Restart the machine

Unplug the machine and leave it for 10 seconds.

Plug the machine back in and retest.

Has this resolved the problem?

Night mode is not working

When in Night mode, your machine will automatically sense the ambient light level and adjust the resting screen brightness accordingly.

If the room is bright, (for example, the lights are on), the screen's display will be set to minimum brightness. If the room is dark (lights off) the screen is turned off.

In both scenarios, when the machine is interacted with, the screen brightness will uplift.

Has this resolved the problem?

If your screen is not displaying correctly (incorrect reading, white screen etc), please ensure you have updated all the software to the latest version.

When setting up a product, we strongly recommend enabling auto-updates, to allow your machine to easily download the latest software.

To enable auto-updates, open the Dyson Link app and click the cog at the top right of the home screen.

Click 'Your Purifier's settings'.

Scroll down to 'Software' and enable Auto-update.

Has this resolved the problem?

The first time your purifier is turned on, the gas sensors will perform a self-calibration which takes one hour after which time they will work normally.

If the power cuts out within the hour, the initialisation period will continue from where it left off.

How long has your purifier been turned on for?

If your machine is new out the box and has not been turned on for over an hour, please allow a full hour to complete, with your purifier plugged into a secure power source.

Once the full hour has elapsed, turn the machine off and then on again, either with the main power button on the machine, or the remote control.

Has this resolved the problem?

If your purifier has been plugged into a stable power source for over one hour, and the VOC and/or NO2 screens still do not show, please unplug your machine from the wall, leave for one minute, plug back in, and then turn on using either the main power button, or the button on the remote.
