Remove the bin by pressing the catch on top of the carry handle.
Push the button to release dust directly into a dustbin or bag.
Release the bin from the cyclone by pressing the button on the back of the cyclone.
Clean the cyclone with a dry cloth and shake or tap firmly to remove all dust from inside the fine dust collector.

Retest the machine. If the noise is still present, this issue could be resolved by booking a repair.

Undo the fastener with a coin.
Remove the Brush bar from the Mini turbine head.
Clear any hair, threads and debris from the Brush bar. Inspect the duct on the underside of the Turbine head for blockages and remove if necessary.
Refit the Brush bar and fasten the Mini turbine head fastener with a coin.
Test the Mini turbine head on the machine.
The Mini turbine head will work if the suction is strong. This issue can be resolved by carrying out performance checks or washing the filter.

A damp or musty smell is caused when dust in the cyclone has come into contact with water.
It may not be a direct contact with water, for example when vacuuming pet hair that is slightly damp, this moisture will combine with the dust in the cyclone causing the smell.
Additionally the smell may occur if the filter goes back into the machine wet.

Turn off and unplug the machine.
Standing behind the machine, lay it on its left side.
On the right side, by the back wheel you will find the U-bend.
Check the U-bend for obstructions.

Stand the machine and test.
The Brush bar will start automatically once the machine is switched on and lowered in to the vacuum position. The machine will aways default to 'Med pile' setting when it is initially switched on.
For best cleaning performance Dyson recommends the following cleaner settings:
Plush, Multi-styles and Shag.
Level-loops and lighter plush.
Commercial grade carpets and Wilton styles.
